Woman Humiliated After Taking Sick Leave To Fly, Gets Caught On Same Plane By Boss

A woman was mortified after she took a sick day to catch a flight and discovered her boss was on the same plane.

There are plenty of crazy stories out there about people who “feel sick” when they aren’t actually sick – although this one in particular is enough to make your teeth cringe.

Grace, who goes by the name @grachevaaleidya on TikTok, took to the popular video platform to share the rather awkward story of how she ran into her manager on a flight.

Although it wouldn’t have been a problem on any other day, Grace had called in sick this time.

“I’m taking a sick day from work to find myself on the same plane as my manager,” the TikToker wrote of the now-viral video.

In the short clip, a shocked Grace looks at the camera before cutting to a screenshot of the blurry messages exchanged between her and her boss.

According to Newsweek, Grace, who works freelance, splits her time between Europe and her hometown of Bali, Indonesia.

On the day of her flight, Grace informed her employers that she had a doctor’s appointment and therefore could not work, but was going home.

Grace recalls the awkward moment her manager spotted as he boarded the plane.

“Long story short, I was waiting in line and then I saw a familiar face come up to me and call my name,” she said.

There was always a chance that Grace might bump into her manager as she had noticed that he often went to Bali.

When the manager noticed Grace on the flight, he sarcastically asked, “Oh, so this is a hospital?”

Completely mortifying.

However, it didn’t end too badly as Grace explained that the pair ended up “laughing together.”

“We ended up talking all the way to the plane and while we were inside he took this photo and sent it to me,” she told Newsweek.

Many people took to the comments section of the TikTok video to share their thoughts.

“I would cry like a baby and hand in my resignation letter,” one user wrote.

A second added: “I thought it was bad when my manager called me because I texted him to say I was sick. I had to answer the phone at the airport. There were announcements like boarding at the gate number… In the background.”

While a third noted: “This happened to me at university…I planned to be ‘sick’ so I couldn’t do my homework.” I ended up on the plane to Turkey with my teacher.
