News Flash • Clayton Fire Department’s Monthly “Meet Us” Report

It’s the first Monday in July, which means we’re recognizing another valued member of our team during #MeetUsMonthly.

Please join us in congratulating Fire Captain Kyle Driver on his ten years of service with the Clayton Fire Department. After taking a part-time position in 2014 and becoming a full-time employee in 2017, he continues to rise through the ranks. Driver is responsible for the operational readiness of crews, coordinating additional training, field management and overseeing the fire truck. He also jokes that the paperwork is his favorite part of the job.

Growing up in the area, he recalls a Clayton High School project where he researched a career path in the fire service. That led to him volunteering with the Cleveland Community Fire Department, and after graduation, he landed a job with the city of Clayton. “It still feels like a small town, but we’re growing. I’ve seen a lot of changes happen, but I still know a lot of the people and places around here. It’s pretty cool to be able to work where I grew up.”

Driver says living and being a part of the community he works in gives him a different perspective when responding to incidents. “You see people you know. You have more compassion for them, you know the area and where you’re going, the different hazards that exist here because I see it every day driving through the city.”

When he’s not at the resort, Driver enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons. They tend to gravitate toward the beach and the mountains, splitting their visits between the two locations. Driver also enjoys working around the house, completing repair and landscaping projects.
