Woods Humane Society Announces 2nd Annual Pet of the Year Calendar Contest

The Woods Humane Society announced Monday the start of its second annual Pet of the Year Calendar Contest.

The competition, which any pet owner can enter, opens on July 1 and closes at midnight on July 31.

Participants can submit a photo and story about their pet to be published on the contest webpage.

Throughout the month, supporters can visit the webpage and make a donation in support of a specific pet. Each $1 donation is equivalent to one vote for a given pet.

The top ten candidates with the most votes will win individual photos of their pets in the Woods Humane Society’s 2025 Pets of the Year calendar, among other prizes. All candidates who receive more than 25 votes will have their pet featured in a collage.

Woods Executive Director Emily L’Heureux says the contest is an important part of fundraising for the shelter.

“For the second year in a row, we are excited to celebrate the dogs and cats of this community through this fun contest, which also raises much-needed funds for the animals of Woods,” L’Heureux said in a press release. “Every dollar donated on participants’ pages counts as a vote for that pet’s photo and also helps dogs and cats in need at the Woods Humane Society.”

The completed calendar featuring the contest winners will be unveiled at the Woods Humane Society Wiggle Waggle Fall Festival on October 26, 2024.

More information about the contest can be found on the Woods Humane Society website.
