Catawba County residents face charges following traffic stop in Alexander County

Melanie Nicole Hunt, 25, of Newton, and Daniel Nakee Letterman, 37, of Maiden, were arrested Saturday (June 29) by Taylorsville police officers.

Hunt is charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance on jail premises and possession of a firearm by a felon. She is also charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of marijuana and multiple counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. She also has a Catawba County arrest warrant for attempted breaking and entering.

Letterman is charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is also charged with possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed weapon and driving on a revoked license.

The two suspects were arrested following a traffic stop by Taylorsville police Saturday night. The suspect’s vehicle was stopped at a location near N.C. 16 South. Hunt was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center on $101,000 bail. Letterman was placed in the same facility on $50,000 bail. Both suspects are scheduled to appear in District Court on July 22.
