Semi-truck catches fire in crash on I88 near Farnsworth Avenue in Aurora; some lanes closed, Illinois State Police say

AURORA, Ill. (WLS) — Some lanes were closed on Interstate 88 in Chicago’s western suburbs Monday afternoon after a tractor-trailer crashed and caught fire, Illinois State Police said.

State troopers responded around noon to westbound I-88 at Farnsworth Avenue in Aurora for a reported crash between the truck and another vehicle, police said.

The cause of the crash was not immediately determined, but police said the truck caught fire.

Minor injuries were reported, state police said.

All westbound lanes are closed, as well as one eastbound lane, causing a traffic jam.

By 12:30 p.m., the fire appeared to be out, but crews remained on site to clean up.
