CITY OF CROOKSTON LAUNCHES EMAIL/SMS NOTIFICATION SERVICE

The Town of Crookston has launched an email and text message notification service for all important town updates. Residents can visit the Town of Crookston website to sign up.

“When you go to the City of Crookston website, which is also www.crookston.mn.us, the first thing you will see is a pop-up encouraging you to subscribe to the City of Crookston. This pop-up is asking you to sign up to receive notifications about the latest news and updates from the City of Crookston community.” Marketing Coordinator Keenan Devier explains, “If you click on it, you will be taken to the ‘Notify Me’ page on the City of Crookston website, where you can create an account and subscribe to different categories to receive emails or text messages on different topics that interest you.”

Residents can get updates on many topics, such as

  • All meetings take place at the City Hall
  • Construction
  • Community Updates
  • Jobs
  • Parks and Recreation Updates

Residents can personalize the messages they receive by individually selecting the areas they wish to be notified about when registering on the City’s website.

Devier emphasizes the importance of marketing through many different avenues. “You’re not going to be able to reach everyone on one platform. You’re not going to be able to reach everyone on Facebook. You’re not going to be able to reach everyone on the radio. You’re not going to be able to reach everyone in a particular category. So when I found out that we had this service available on our website, it was a no-brainer that we had to do everything we could to send direct communications to our residents. I thought it would be a fantastic way for residents to stay up to date with what’s going on and hear directly from us.”
