The reveal of Slitterhead was undeniably exciting. The Silent Hill vibe, action-horror mix, and Keiichiro Toyama’s involvement piqued the interest of many, including ourselves. This begged the question: how well would this translate to the Steam Deck? While a definitive answer has yet to be given, a recent development hints at the potential. Bokeh Game Studio, the developers, shared a screenshot of Slitterhead running on the Steam Deck on their X account.

It’s intriguing, but it’s important to temper expectations. The lack of performance details leaves room for questions. While their demonstration on the Deck is a positive sign, it doesn’t guarantee a flawless experience. Optimization remains a question mark.

Steam Deck Performance for Slitterhead

Slitterhead’s Steam release date of November 8th is a welcome extension of the wait. Bokeh Game Studio’s preview is encouraging, but without any details on performance, it’s best to wait before talking about perfect compatibility. Hopefully, as we get closer to launch, we’ll have more information on optimization. The minimum requirements at the moment list a GTX 1060 or RX 580, two discrete graphics cards that are not far from being equivalent to the Steam Deck.

The dark world of Kowloon seems well-suited to the portability of the Steam Deck. However, it takes time to translate that atmosphere and gameplay to a portable format with potential limitations.

We are cautiously optimistic

While the developer’s teasers and the genre’s potential for portable gaming are generating interest, it’s important to remain cautious. Slitterhead remains a title to watch, especially for Steam Deck owners. Hopefully, development continues and more concrete information on optimization will be available in the coming months.
