Iran condemns global silence on Israeli aggression in Gaza

TEHRAN – The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman condemned the Israeli army’s serious and brutal actions against Palestinians in Gaza, calling them “unspeakable” and stressing that remaining silent about these atrocities is against the conscience of humanity.

“The pain and suffering inflicted on Palestine and the people of the Gaza Strip is indescribable,” Nasser Kanaani wrote in a message posted on his official X account on Tuesday.

Kanaani sharply criticized the administration of US President Joe Biden and other Western supporters of the Israeli regime amid the ongoing violence in Gaza, saying they are as guilty as the occupying Zionist entity.

“Silence and inaction in the face of these crimes and brutality are contrary to humanitarian and moral responsibility and are condemned by the conscience of humanity and divine judgment,” Kanaani stressed.

The conflict in Gaza has resulted in devastating losses, with Israeli actions since October 7 killing at least 37,925 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring 87,141 others.

Despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire, Israel’s ongoing actions in the besieged enclave have drawn widespread international condemnation.

UN agencies warn that more than a million Palestinians in Gaza could face severe famine by mid-July, as the food crisis worsens due to Israel’s continued blockade of humanitarian aid.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres highlighted the dire and chaotic conditions in Gaza, describing the situation as “total anarchy.”

More than eight months into the conflict, large areas of Gaza lie in ruins, with a crippling blockade affecting supplies of food, clean water and medicine.

Thousands of Palestinians are fleeing their homes in Khan Younis, Gaza, as Israeli forces shell the area and fire artillery shells after issuing a new evacuation order for the southern city embroiled in fighting.

The evacuation zone recently declared by the Israeli military in Khan Younis encompasses an area where 250,000 people live, according to Sam Rose, director of planning at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
