Chelsea eye Calafiori move, could revive interest in Osimhen

Chelsea are considering signing a left-footed defender capable of playing in a three or four-man defence and have set their sights on Bologna star Riccardo Calafiori.

According to The Telegraph, Calafiori is an option being considered to strengthen the defence as he can play as a centre-back and left-back.

The 22-year-old continued his exceptional season with a great performance at the 2024 European Championship. His composure and composure with the ball caught the attention of many.

He played a crucial role in Bologna’s qualification for the Champions League last season, helping the Serie A side keep ten clean sheets in 30 top-flight appearances.

Calafiori has won 63% of his Serie A duels, scoring two goals and providing five assists while playing in multiple positions for coach Thiago Motta.

He could be a great addition for the Blues this summer, although they would be better off signing a specialist left-back.

Chelsea have also not ruled out a move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, although they initially pulled out of a deal due to the high figures involved.

However, Napoli have reportedly reduced their asking price to €100m after struggling to find a buyer when they insisted on his €150m release clause.

The Partenopei are ready to sell Osimhen this summer and hope the reduction will bring the suitors back to the negotiating table.

Chelsea have failed to sign Jhon Duran (Aston Villa) and Samu Omorodion (Atletico Madrid). The Blues could call on the Napoli striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson.
