How to Stop iCloud Spam Notifications in iOS 17

It’s frustrating to be inundated with iCloud spam notifications, but iOS lets you keep them in the Mail app. However, you won’t find the option in the notifications section.

How to Stop iCloud Spam Notifications from Cluttering iOS

Managing spam notifications can improve your daily productivity and peace of mind. Constant spam alerts can disrupt your focus, decrease your efficiency, and increase your stress.

Turning off these notifications creates a cleaner, more organized digital environment, allowing you to focus on important tasks without unnecessary distractions.

When you configure your email settings on iOS, you’ll find two main options: Push and Fetch. Each of these controls how often your device receives emails.

Understanding the difference between push and fetch for emails

With Push, your email server automatically sends new emails to your device as soon as they arrive. The Push method provides instant notification of new messages, allowing you to stay informed about important communications.

However, Push can be more demanding on battery life since your device is constantly connecting to the server.

On the other hand, Fetch requires your device to regularly check the mail server to see if there are new messages. You can set the interval to 15 minutes, 30 minutes, every hour, or manually.

Fetch can be more battery efficient as it does not require a continuous connection to the server. However, there is a slight delay in receiving new emails compared to Push.

Apple only allows iCloud Mail to access Push and limits third-party email accounts to the Fetch option. Therefore, you may need to visit the third-party service’s website to control its spam settings.

The spam delivery setting may not be enabled by default for everyone. While we found the spam mailbox already active in our settings, another AppleInsider A staff member discovered that this feature was not enabled on their device.

How to Turn Off iCloud Spam Notifications

Some iCloud mailboxes have push notifications enabled by default, and the Junk folder is one of them. Fortunately, you can turn off junk notifications.

  1. Start by opening Settingsthen scroll down to Mail.
  2. Select Email AccountsSO Retrieve new data. Here you will see the options for Push and Fetch.
  3. Press on iCloud and look for the Pushed Mailboxes section.
  4. By tapping on junk mail or other mailboxes, you can control their schedule.
