James Gunn Breaks Silence on Superman Set Photos Leaked

The superhero genre continues to be a powerful force in the entertainment industry, but big changes are happening. Aquaman 2 marked the end of the DCEU (which can be streamed with a Max subscription), and new co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are creating a new shared universe. The first phase, titled Gods and Monsters, will begin with the new Superman film, and Gunn recently broke his silence on leaked set photos that began circulating online.

What we know about Superman The film is limited, but anticipation is growing as production moves forward. Fans have gotten a better look at David Corsenswet’s Superman suit thanks to set photos, so what does the filmmaker/producer think? Gunn was asked this question on Threads, and he responded:

Completely expected.

Well, there you have it. It seems Gunn knew the photos were going to end up online once Superman He’s started taking photos outdoors in public. That includes revealing Clark Kent’s hair. And as such, he doesn’t seem too concerned about photos of the actors in costume, including David Corenswet’s Superman and Edi Gathegi’s Mister Terrific.

The casting of Superman The film is very busy, and fans were surprised to see other heroes like Green Lantern included in the mix. But James Gunn has a master plan for the project (and the DCEU as a whole). In the same Threads conversation, he was asked if any of the set photos circulating online spoiled major aspects of the upcoming DC film. He said:

Not even a little bit. I would never shoot a big spoiler in the middle of the city.

Touche. It seems like Gunn is very particular about which Superman scenes are filmed in the public eye. And as such, we shouldn’t expect any major spoilers from other set photos that end up on the internet. The guy knows how the genre works and knows exactly when and where to film scenes.

James Gunn’s comments show how methodically he approaches the production process of SupermanWhile not revealing anything about the film’s plot, the set photos helped to heighten the anticipation of die-hard DC fans, who were curious to see the costumes of various superhero characters.

Indeed, a number of other heroes will join Clark Kent during the mysterious duration of the story. SupermanIn addition to Gathegi’s Mister Terrific, they will be joined by Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, and Anthony Carrigan’s Rex Mason/Metamorpho.
