Josh Kroenke hints at big-money move in final day message to Arsenal fans

Arsenal co-chairman Josh Kroenke has said the club will not stand still whether they beat Manchester City to the title or not.

The Gunners are battling for the Premier League title against Manchester City on the final day of the season. City, who host West Ham, are two points ahead of Arsenal, who host Everton at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have not won the title for 20 years and owner Kroenke says even if they do they will not rest on their laurels, pointing to a busy summer of transfer activity.

“While we are undoubtedly proud of the progress we have made, I want to make it clear that no one at the club will stand still,” he told Arsenal’s website.

“Whatever the outcome of today’s events, we are all working behind the scenes to move forward – always moving forward – again.

“There is so much we want to achieve, both at home and in Europe, and we are focused on writing exciting new stories and chapters that build on the history of Arsenal Football Club.

“There were so many stories and moments throughout the season, shaped by so many of our players.

“We have all enjoyed seeing our summer signings develop into Arsenal players and we are delighted that a number of players have signed new contracts to keep this team together, fighting on all fronts. We want to continue to forge that winning mentality that runs so deep at the club.”

“Whatever happens between now and the final whistle today, I am certain that this season will remain etched in our memories for a long time.

“The football played by our teams has been a pleasure to watch and we can all be proud of the progress and direction of the football club.

“To be challenging for the Premier League title on the final day of the season is testament to the hard work, energy and determination of everyone at the club. So too is the fact that we reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time in 14 years and qualified for the second consecutive Champions League for the first time in seven years.

“That said, what probably gave many of us the greatest pleasure was the connection we felt between all of us.

“The noise and support for our players this season has played a huge part in what we have achieved together. I know Mikel (Arteta), Jonas (Eidevall) and our players are truly grateful to everyone who has played a part in all of this.”
