Viewers Forced To Stop Watching Shocking Netflix Documentary That Horrified Them

Netflix viewers have admitted to turning off a new documentary after being shocked by what it revealed.

The name of the sport is telling: cheerleading. This sport should be full of enthusiasm, energy and joy, but the new Netflix series shows that this is not always the case.

Premiering on the streaming service on June 20, the series follows the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders to document the personal stories and work put in by the team as it moves forward into the 2023-24 season.

The team formed in 1961 and has become a world-renowned group, with its star-studded blue uniforms and shiny pom-poms familiar to millions.

It’s the team’s job to make the sport seem fun and easy, but the show, titled America’s Darlings: The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleadersreveals the harsh reality behind the incredible demonstrations.

Creator Greg Whiteley explained: “The kind of access and creative freedom we need to make the kind of work we want to make is not easy to come by, especially when it comes to a brand as big as the Dallas Cowboys.

“The Cowboys were credited with giving us unlimited access to the venue for the year we filmed the DCC and leaving us alone. The result is an authentic portrait of one of the most famous and beloved institutions in American pop culture.”

Offering an unfiltered look into the lives of Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, the creators revealed shocking truths, including how little money cheerleaders receive for their work.

Some team members need to work full-time while maintaining their place on the team, while others struggle to meet the demands.

The series skyrocketed into Netflix’s Top 10, but it seems the truth proved too much to handle for some viewers who admitted to turning it off.

“Was watching America’s Darlings on Netflix but I had to stop because the way they treat Victoria makes me so angry!!,” wrote one viewer.

In an opinion piece written for Mamamia, writer Emily Vernem added that she felt the need to end the series due to a “lack of representation.”

However, other viewers had a completely opposite reaction, saying they couldn’t tear themselves away from the show despite its shocking nature.

“Watching “America’s Darlings“About the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders on Netflix and my god this needed a warning. It’s so upsetting but I can’t stop watching,” one viewer commented.

Another person posted: “I wanted a Netflix show as background noise earlier so I opted for something uninteresting. I am now extremely invested in the Dallas Cowboys cheerleading squad. What an awesome show.”
