Floods are too much for Ducktona – event cancelled, but draw still on

Rubber ducks and water go hand in hand, but too much water put a damper on a popular fundraising event this weekend. The annual “Ducktona,” sponsored by the Sheboygan Falls-Main Street Chamber of Commerce, had to be canceled due to two floods at River Park in Sheboygan Falls. The event, which in addition to the rubber duck race on the Sheboygan River was to include a boat and classic car show with more than 300 participants, as well as food and entertainment on the grounds, was scheduled for Sunday but has now been reduced to a raffle only event at 3 p.m. on the 7th at the Chamber office on Broadway Avenue.

National Weather Service records show that 1.25 inches of rain have already fallen in the first two days of July, on top of the 6 inches of rain that fell in June, nearly double the usual amount. The ground at River Park has become too soft to accommodate the festival and the crowds that would have attended.

Those wishing to support the Sheboygan Falls-Main Street Chamber of Commerce through the raffle can still purchase tickets for $5 each or 5 tickets for $20. For more information, call the Chamber at 920-467-6206.
