Manchester United ready to sell Marcus Rashford, number of first-team players to raise funds – Paper Round

MAN UTD ready to sell Rashford

Manchester United’s decision to retain Erik ten Hag could mean the end of Marcus Rashford’s time at Old Trafford.

The Sun reports that the club are hoping to receive £80million for the player, but could compromise for a lower fee.

The newspaper writes: “Manchester United will listen to offers for Marcus Rashford after his relationship with Erik ten Hag broke down.

“The manager’s future was linked to the 26-year-old Red Devils striker.

“Now that Ten Hag is staying, the club will look to cash in on the academy graduate who has become one of United’s brightest stars.

“They will want £80m for their number 10 but may have to accept closer to £60m after his dip in form last season.”

MAN Utd eye new exits

The Mirror continues the United theme, reporting that Dan Ashworth has named seven senior players for transfer as soon as possible.

Manchester United need to raise funds if they are to successfully complete their rebuild in the coming weeks ahead of the new season.

The newspaper explains: “With sporting director Dan Ashworth already in charge, Manchester United can begin to reshape their squad ahead of the new season.

“United must therefore use the revenue generated from player sales to supplement their initial budget, which is why Ashworth and his team are focusing as much on outgoings as incomings, hoping to secure as many as possible before the team flies to the United States on July 24 for a three-match summer tour.

“The seven players United want to part ways with are Casemiro, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Christian Eriksen, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood. The ideal scenario for United would be to be able to sell them all for around £200m, which would give them a transfer outlay of £250m, including the initial £50m budget.”

Arsenal begin negotiations for Calafiori

Riccardo Calafiori’s impressive season with Bologna was followed by a strong showing at Euro 2024 for Italy, and he could now move to the Premier League.

The Daily Mail claims Arsenal have opened talks with the Serie A side to sign the player.

The newspaper reports: “Arsenal have opened negotiations with Bologna over a deal for Riccardo Calafiori and are discussing personal terms with the player’s representatives.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is keen to bring in defensive reinforcements after finishing second to Manchester City for the second consecutive season in the Premier League.

“The Italy centre-back impressed in his tepid Euro 2024 campaign – playing every group game in full – after a breakthrough season with Bologna which saw the club qualify for the Champions League.

“However, the Gunners face stiff competition from Chelsea for the Italian, who are expected to spend big again after a disappointing season.”

Ipswich keen to sign Hull duo

Newly promoted Ipswich Town have made a bid in the region of £35million for Hull City youth players Jacob Greaves and Jaden Philogene.

Philogene, in particular, has been linked with several top clubs, and the Athletic reports that Ipswich could complete the deal.

The website claims: “Ipswich Town have made a joint bid of around £35m plus add-ons for Hull City duo Jacob Greaves and Jaden Philogene.

“Discussions between newly promoted Suffolk club and Hull are ongoing but far from complete.

“Greaves, 23, made 43 appearances last season as the east Yorkshire side narrowly missed out on a play-off place.

“Philogene, meanwhile, is being tracked by a number of Premier League clubs after an eye-catching 2023-24 campaign under head coach Liam Rosenior, who has since left the club.”
