Would you like to stay in a Walrus room with your family? Now it’s possible.

We’re always on the lookout for the most unusual family-friendly accommodations, and we think we’ve found the one for you. Would you take your kids to a Walrus room, half submerged in water, with real walruses swimming around? Yes, please!

A mom who blogs about family travel ideas discovered one of the craziest places to stay for families we think we’ve seen: a Walrus Room.

Michelle Koral-Rea, who posts on Instagram as LivieHudson, posted a video showing the walrus room at Pairi Daiza Zoo in Belgium, which she admits is “the coolest room we’ve ever been in.”

With a window overlooking the zoo’s walrus enclosure, we have to agree that this is one of the most unusual places to stay, and we think the kids would love it.

According to its website, Pairi Daiza Zoo has been voted “Best Zoo in Europe” several times and has been awarded three stars in the Michelin Green Guide.

Pairi Daiza takes you on a journey across five continents, to meet more than 7,500 animals welcomed and housed in vast territories. Giant pandas, elephants, polar bears, orangutans, rare birds, gorillas, walruses… More than 800 species are protected at Pairi Daiza, in nine universes where authentic buildings, varied plantations, semi-precious minerals and the rarest cultural wonders transport you to five continents.

The best thing about this zoo: it is unlike any other. “Because at Pairi Daiza, you can also rub shoulders with wolves, brown and black bears, polar bears, walruses, penguins, Siberian tigers and many more.”

We are absolutely convinced. And as if that were not enough, Pairi Daiza and its Foundation have the mission to protect, conserve and “save the wonders of nature”.

The closest airport to Pairi Daiza is Brussels Airport (BRU). Belgian Railways (SNCB) operates an hourly train from Brussels-Zaventem Airport to Jurbise, with tickets costing between $16 and $18 for a journey time of 1 hour and 2 minutes.

You can also fly to Brussels Charleroi, Eindhoven or Beauvais and although flights can be good value, it is advisable to check journey times to the zoo before booking.

Here is the video clip captured by Michelle Koral-Rea to show us just how incredible this place really is:
