Level 1 Evacuations (Be Prepared!) Have Been Issued Due to a Brush Fire Near Omak

OMAK, Wash. – A brush fire near Omak has prompted Level 1 evacuations for nearby residents.

Okanogan County Emergency Management reported that the fire, located near Sand Flat Road and north of Engh Road, is spreading south, east and west. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and watch for emergency vehicles in the area. No information has been released yet on the size of the fire.

According to the Washington Department of Natural Resources, a Level 1 evacuation means:

Prepare: Prepare well in advance of emergencies by creating a defensible space around your home, assembling an emergency kit, and establishing a family communication plan.
