Midstate man arrested with drugs off Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bedford County: PSP

BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Midstate Pennsylvania resident was arrested as he exited the PA Turnpike and allegedly found with a pound of methamphetamine, cops report.

Angel Diaz Gibson Jr., 32 (Bedford County Jail)

Angel Diaz Gibson Jr., 32, of Reading, faces multiple charges of possession of drugs with intent to deliver after he was stopped off the highway and said he was going to visit his children in Maryland, court documents show.

A state trooper said in the criminal complaint that he was monitoring traffic off the Bedford Turnpike on July 4 when he saw Gibson get out, noting that his vehicle’s registration was expired. He then conducted a traffic stop.

As the officer approached, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the silver SUV, prompting him to ask Gibson to step out of the vehicle. While speaking to him, officers said he said he was traveling to Deep Creek, Maryland, to visit his children. He also allegedly admitted to having “about a joint” in the SUV.

After agreeing to a search of the vehicle, officers said in the indictment they found a pound of methamphetamine and two ounces of fentanyl — an amount they said was indicative of drug trafficking.
