Body camera shows Florida deputy punched by fleeing suspect during traffic stop

A Tampa, Florida, deputy was seriously injured after being hit by a car he was trying to stop on July 5.

Body camera footage released by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) shows Deputy Kalin Hall, 33, attempting to arrest a black man BMW just after midnight, but the suspect speeds past him.

Less than a half-hour later, Hall attempted a second traffic stop before the suspect ran over the deputy as he approached the car.

After the incident, Hall was taken to hospital with a broken leg. HCSO he said, and underwent surgery to insert a rod into his leg.

According to the sheriff’s office, the BMW was later found abandoned about a mile from where the deputy was shot.
