“We are proud of this ambitious partnership that confirms Marzotto’s attitude and commitment to sustainability: real, tangible and certified sustainability. We have always relied on natural and precious materials such as wool, but we found it interesting to adopt this project by Spiber Inc. which, starting from an element as simple and preserved in nature as sugar, has allowed us to create a fabric that maintains its absolute biodegradability while maintaining the functionality required by the textile market, for a new beauty that respects nature to touch and wear. A further step forward that combines tradition and textile art with technological research, to tell the story of an ancient art in a modern but above all sustainable way.” – Giorgio TodescoCEO of Marzotto Wool Manufacturing Srl

RD Florence x Spiber Group

RD Gruppo Florence and Spiber have begun to collaborate on synergistic technical research with the aim of realising sustainable luxury fashion, unveiling at Pitti Filati the first women’s and men’s prototypes made by some of the Group’s companies: Mely’s Maglieria, Antica Valserchio and Ideal Blue.

The prototype of the women’s collection is knitted by Mely’s Maglieria with Brewed Protein™ yarns, developed in synergy with VIMAR1991. Brewed Protein™ fibers, wool, polyamide and fancy yarns mixed with cashmere have been custom-developed to enhance the aesthetic characteristics of the material, opening up new possibilities in the customization of garments and their components.

The prototype of the men’s collection is woven by Antica Valserchio, with Brewed Protein™ yarns. The prototypes are manufactured by Ideal Blue. The jacquard fabric is produced with the “Graphic Mapping” technique, taking into account the actual locations of the graphics on the patterns in order to minimize waste and evolve the production process, elevating the technical content from a product perspective.

The fabrics and yarns used in these prototypes are now available for custom development. The two companies plan further collaborations and the launch of technical solutions in the near future.
