Traffic stop in Clifton leads to arrest of two people

CLIFTON, Maine (WABI) – Police say two felons were arrested on gun charges following a traffic stop that turned into a chase in Clifton.

Alison Furman, 37, of Princeton, and Christopher Bombardier, 35, of Calais, face multiple charges, including possession of a firearm by a felon.

The Penobscot Sheriff’s Office said Furman was driving when a deputy attempted to stop the couple for speeding Friday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. on Route Nine.

They say that at first she refused to stop, but eventually she did.

When officers approached, they found a weapon and ammunition.

Furman faces a number of charges, including dangerous driving and reckless driving.

Both were taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
