Sanchez remains silent and Vox reiterates support for Ukraine after Russian attack on children’s hospital

Yolanda Diaz, Irene Montero and Ione Belarra have not said anything about it.

Yesterday, the world once again wondered how far Russian terrorism could go in Ukraine, with the attack on the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital.

Russia attacks children’s hospital in Ukraine: how many protests will there be against this?
Powerful cruise missile used by Russia to attack children’s hospital in Ukraine

The Russian attack left 37 dead, including 3 children

Last night, as rescue operations continued, the Ukrainian president said that yesterday’s Russian attack had killed 37 people, including 3 children, and injured 170, including 13 children. Regarding the Russian attack on the children’s hospital in kyiv, Zelensky commented: “A Russian missile hit Ukraine’s largest children’s hospital, targeting young cancer patients. Many were buried under the rubble” . “

Sanchez did not devote a single tweet to this Russian attack.

The Spanish left has so far demonstrated a clear tendency to accuse Israel based on false information disseminated by Hamasoften without any graphic evidence. Yesterday, with numerous images of the Russian attack on this children’s hospital and with clear evidence of the Russian weapon used in the attack (a Kh-101 cruise missile, capable of carrying a 450 kg explosive charge), Socialist Pedro Sánchez did not publish a single tweet to condemn the Russian attackIn the hours following the attack, Sánchez found time to talk about a gigantic battery factory, but without referring to this new demonstration of the baseness of Russian terrorism.

The Spanish far left also remains silent

On the far left, Vice President Yolanda Diaz has not said a word about it either.. After pushing his hostility towards Israel to the point of using a slogan that calls for wiping the Jewish state off the map, the communist leader did not have time to condemn this savage Russian attack on a children’s hospital. The leaders of the far-left party Podemos Irene Montero and Ione Belarra didn’t say anything about it either.after accusing Israel of “genocide.”

This silence is something to be expected. In the last legislature, two far-left parties, Podemos and Izquierda Unidawere the most pro-Russian Spanish parties in the European Parliament. It is worth recalling that from the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the PCE (of which Yolanda Díaz is a member) and Izquierda Unida supported a demonstration against NATO. On 1 March 2022, two Communist MEPs, including current Minister Sira Rego, abstained from the European Parliament resolution condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Similarly, in February 2023, Podemos brought together other pro-Russian parties in Madrid to criticise NATO, an event attended by five parties that did not condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Vox reiterates its support for Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity

Yesterday, at 16:19, it was Vox that spoke about Ukraine. The national spokesperson of this party, Jose Antonio Fusterquoted the words spoken a few minutes earlier by the head of the Vox delegation to the European Parliament, Jorge Buxadeduring the presentation of the Patriots for Europe group: All our support to Ukraine, to the defense of its national sovereignty and territorial integrity” . “

Furthermore, in an interview published last night by the newspaper El Mundo, Buxadé said: “We are pro-Ukraine, pro-NATO and pro-rule of law.” With these statements, this party maintains its traditional line: let us recall that Vox had already affirmed its support for Ukraine a month before the Russian invasion, when it was clear that it was going to take place, but some continued to deny it. After the invasion began, Vox leader Santiago Abascal reiterated his support for Ukraine. and denounced the far left’s support for Putin.

The strange silence of the PP majority

The strangest thing after yesterday’s attack was The majority silence of the Popular Party. I have reviewed the communication channels of this party without finding any reference to Ukraine after yesterday’s attack. The only person who issued a message on this subject, criticizing Putin, was Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, deputy spokesperson of the PP parliamentary group in Congress, after midnight. I disagree with the PP on many aspects, but it is a party that supports the cause of Ukraine. I hope you have not decided to lower your guard in this regard. The Ukrainian cause needs all possible support.
