Current mood

What I like right now: Bloomsbury-inspired interiors, including decorative paintings and painterly details placed in unexpected places. The Bloomsbury Group, a group of early 20th-century English creatives, embraced bold colors, drew from a wide range of influences, and believed that the objects that fill a home should be given as much attention as fine art. The result is layered, artful interiors, like those of the Charleston Farmhouse, with highly personalized furniture and plenty of fun surprises scattered throughout a room.

I would recommend it to someone who also likes…Maximalism and naturalism, as well as Art Deco, Art Nouveau and avant-garde interiors: there is room for many styles to be mixed and matched.

Where I spotted it in the wild:

Three concrete ways to try it:

  1. Applying a Bloomsbury-style fabric to a very contemporary chair or sofa: the contrast looks exciting! I might add some fringe for good measure.
  2. Paint closet doors with a nature-inspired mural and add whimsical hardware to create a dreamy bedroom escape.
