Traffic stop leads to drug arrest in Avon

On July 3, 2024, at approximately 10:56 p.m., the Dare County Sheriff’s Office District C conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Kinnakeet Blvd on NC Hwy 12, Avon NC.

During the stop, probable cause was established to conduct a search of the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle, a quantity of fentanyl, heroin and drug paraphernalia were located and seized. The investigation continued at a hotel room where the individual was staying and a quantity of cocaine, marijuana, prescription medications and other drug paraphernalia were located and seized.

William Thaddeus Bridgeman, 45, of Reston, Virginia, was charged with (F) Possession of Schedule I Drugs, 2 counts of (F) Possession of Schedule II Drugs, (M) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and (M) Maintaining a Dwelling. Bridgeman was issued a $50,000 secured bond.
