Moment Cat Escapes From Guardian’s Home Caught On Camera, Then Rescuer Steps In

After hearing about a cat that had escaped from under a caretaker’s nose, Julie Nashawaty knew she had to step in and help a neighbor.

Nashawaty first heard about Ace when the cat’s family posted about his disappearance on their Boston neighborhood community Facebook page. The parents were out of town and had hired a pet sitter to watch over Ace and his furry siblings.

A ring camera revealed the moment Ace took advantage of his chance to explore the wilderness. The sitter left the gate open at 3am as he took the dog for a potty break.

Even without knowing the family, Nashawaty felt horrible. She reached out to the family to ask if they had followed the usual steps when searching for a missing cat, and when she learned they were out of town and the cat sitter was at work, she said Newsweek She jumped into her car with wet cat food and a cat bag. As a pet sitter and animal lover, Nashawaty couldn’t bear the thought of a cat going missing.

It didn’t take long for Nashawaty to spot Ace. His meows drew her in, and she found him under a fence. After calling 911, 311, and then animal control to no avail, she was left to take charge of the rescue alone. Ace finally got the courage to jump in, and she grabbed him by the scruff of the neck, pulling him out of the house.

Terrified after being alone outside for 30 hours, Ace hugged her tightly. Nashawaty called the family to get their address and the safe deposit box information to make sure Ace got home safely. It turned out it was just a few doors down.

“He was so sweet and funny,” Nashawaty said. “He was really grateful and gave lots of hugs.”

Nashawaty brought Ace home and was greeted by a visibly upset cat sister. She was “yelling” at Ace like a typical bossy sister.

It was a happy, tearful ending that brought peace to the family. Nashawaty said they kept asking her who she was, but she said she was just a “neighbor.”

“A world of suffering avoided”

The incredible rescue, which has been viewed nearly 100,000 times, was shared on her TikTok account, @julienashawaty. Viewers flooded the video’s comments section, praising the woman’s dedication to helping strangers find their cat.

“Thank you for your kindness. 18 years ago I trusted the wrong pet sitter and the outcome was not good. You saved me a lot of pain and guilt,” one user said.

Another added: “You are an amazing person. I cry watching him watch the door close.”

A third person pointed out: “His nose was so red, he was so stressed, poor baby.”
