Regina King, Actress in Darren Aronofsky’s New Film, Caught Flying with Austin Butler

Regina King has joined the cast of Darren Aronofsky’s new film, titled Caught stealing.

Caught Stealing is a new crime thriller produced by Sony Pictures and directed by Darren Aronofsky. Austin Butler (Dune: Part Two, The Bikeriders) and Zoë Kravitz (The Batman, Blink Twice) have already been announced to star in the film.

According to Deadline, King has also joined the cast of Caught Stealing. Details regarding his portrayal remain under wraps for now.

King is known for starring in films such as Jerry Maguire (1996), Enemy of the State (1998), Mighty Joy Young (1998), Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde (2003), Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous (2005), If Beale Street Could Talk (2018), The Harder They Fall (2021), and most recently, Shirley (2024).

She also played Angela Abar/Sister Night in the HBO series Watchmen, while she has also had roles in television shows such as The Boondocks, 24, Southland, The Strain, Shameless, American Crime and The Leftovers.

Additionally, King directed One Night in Miami… in 2020 starring Kingsley Ben-Adir, Eli Goree, Aldis Hodge and Leslie Odom Jr.

What else do we know about Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing?

Deadline’s description of Caught Stealing reads: “The film follows Hank Thompson (Butler), a washed-up former baseball player, as he is unwittingly thrust into a savage fight for survival in the criminal underworld of inner-city New York in the 1990s.”

Caught Stealing is based on Charlie Huston’s 2004 novel of the same name. Huston wrote the screenplay for the film. Aronofsky’s company Protozoa Pictures is producing the film.

Aronofsky is known for directing Pi (1998), Requiem for a Dream (2000), The Fountain (2006), The Wrestler (2008), Black Swan (2010), Noah (2014), Mother! (2017), and The Whale (2022).

The release date for Caught Stealing has not yet been announced by Sony Pictures.
