Barcelona concerned over health of key defender amid national team silence

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are increasingly concerned about the health of Ronald Araujo.

Indeed, the Uruguayan Football Federation has yet to provide detailed information on the defender’s injury, leading the team to believe that the problem could be more serious than initially thought.

It should be recalled that Araujo suffered a muscle injury while playing for his national team last Saturday against Brazil.

He felt discomfort in the back of his right thigh after clearing a ball and had to leave the game after just 30 minutes. Almost a week has passed and Barcelona have still not received detailed information about his injury.

The uncertainty has only added to their concern and the club fear the injury is significant, potentially sidelining their crucial defender for an extended period.

Uruguay hasn’t said much

The Uruguayan Football Federation carried out medical tests and issued a brief statement last Tuesday.

They mentioned that “In the quarter-final match of the Copa América 2024 against Brazil, footballer Ronald Araujo had to be replaced due to a physical problem. After studies, it was confirmed that it was a muscle injury.”

However, this statement lacks detailed information, leaving Barça in the dark. Araujo’s entourage informed that the first images were not clear and that further tests would be carried out after the Copa América to obtain an accurate diagnosis.

Araujo is set to return to Barcelona

Meanwhile, Araujo’s return to Barcelona is said to be scheduled for this Friday or Saturday, as Uruguay was eliminated from the Copa America.

Upon arrival, he will undergo a thorough examination by the FC Barcelona medical team. The club plans to begin a corresponding recovery plan based on the detailed assessment of his condition.

The delay in receiving complete medical information from the Uruguayan Football Federation is causing significant stress within the Barcelona camp.

Because Araujo is not a player like the others: he is a central element of the defense. His absence could have serious consequences on the team’s performance next season.

FC Barcelona’s medical team is ready to take charge of Araujo’s case as soon as he returns home. Their goal is to understand the extent of his injury and establish a tailor-made recovery plan.

The club’s priority is to ensure he receives the best possible care and is back on the pitch as soon as it is safe for him to play.
