Parisians ask city to consider cost-of-living adjustments for retirees

In Paris, the city council has been asked to consider a cost-of-living allowance for city retirees. The Paris News reports that at this week’s Paris City Council meeting, several local residents advocated for reinstating a cost-of-living allowance that was eliminated 16 years ago. The Texas Legislature recently gave cities more options for structuring cost-of-living allowances through an amendment to the Texas Municipal Retirement System Act.

In other Paris City news, today is City Manager Grayson Path’s last day on the job. He is headed to Amarillo to take over as city manager. Robert Vine will serve as interim city manager. City officials told the Paris News they expect to have a new city manager in six to eight months.
