He also invited Martin Compston, 40, who opened his set holding a Saltire flag.

The couple had dinner with Glasgow chef Jimmy Lee at Lychee Oriental in the city centre before heading to the festival.

Addressing the large crowd, the Line of Duty star said: “I’m just a little scaly fairy from Greenock.

“And this man asked me to be here because he is a legend.

“Let’s give Example some recognition.

“He’s a friend of mine, he told me the best crowds in the world are the ones in Scotland.

“And tonight we’re going to prove them right again – because f*** Glastonbury” – before launching into a “No Scotland, no party” chant with the crowd.

Martin and Example then launched into their set with the 2000s hit, Change the Way you Kiss Me.
