Halle Bailey Shares Message for Other Moms After Giving Birth: ‘Remember How Special You Are’ (Exclusive)

After the birth of his son, Halo, in 2023, Halle Bailey has a very important reminder for other moms: “Enjoy everything and don’t let it drown you.”

“Remember how special you are as a whole person,” Little Mermaid The star told ET’s Denny Directo at the 2024 ESPY Awards, “and yeah, keep chasing your dreams, I would say.”

THE Purple color The actress is doing just that as she is set to appear in Atlantisa coming-of-age musical directed by The eternal sunshine of the spotless mindMichel Gondry and produced by Pharrell, whose childhood in Virginia Beach inspired the project.

“It was a really beautiful experience, because I think it was really empowering. I needed to know that I could still do this, that I could still be all of these things, and that being a mother was on top of that,” she said of working on the project after giving birth. “It made me feel really good.”

As the 24-year-old new mom explains, she also doesn’t feel the pressure of having to meet Hollywood’s physical expectations for moms after carrying a child.

“I feel like I’ve been surrounded by beautiful women who remind me, ‘Girl, you can take your time,’” she said. “‘You’re okay,’ so I feel good about life.”

After all, Bailey set her boundaries when it came to motherhood early on. Despite ongoing public speculation, Bailey has not not to say a public word about her pregnancy until after giving birth to her first child with boyfriend DDG.

“There was no way I was going to share the greatest joy in my world with anyone,” she said during her acceptance speech at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards in March. She added that her son “was my gift, the greatest blessing, and I had no obligation to expose him, myself, or my family to that unrelenting light.”
