‘Let’s get our flags ready…’: Princess Eugenie shares rare family update as she cheers on England ahead of Euro 2024 final

Sportsmanship and positivity have always been an inherent quality of the British royal family. Recently, Princess Eugenie, also known as Eugenie Victoria Helena, shared a sweet photo ahead of the Euro 2024 final. The Princess of York shared an Instagram post of her eldest son, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, coloring an English flag on paper.

The princess wrote: “We’re getting our flags ready for tonight’s big game. Let me know where you’re watching in the comments. Good luck @england, you’ve made us all so proud. #euros”

She posted the snap on the afternoon of July 14, 2024, hours before England suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Spain.

Eugenie’s cousin Prince William also attended the final in Berlin with his son Prince George. It was the first match of the tournament that Prince George attended with his father.

Gareth Southgate’s England team suffered a disappointing defeat in the Euro 2024 final on 14 July 2024, due to a late goal. Spain won their first major title in 12 years and emerged victorious. The result marked England’s second consecutive defeat in a European Championship final under Southgate.

After the match, Prince William posted a statement on his Instagram story expressing his pride and encouragement for the England team. He said: “This time it just wasn’t meant to be. We are all still so proud of you. Onward @England. W”

It was the first match of the tournament that Prince George attended with his father, continuing their tradition of supporting the England team, as they also watched the Euro 2020 final together at Wembley Stadium.

Meanwhile, King Charles also issued an official note to the England team players and asked the team to keep their heads held high.

According to Town And Country, Princess Eugenie is the third of the Queen’s four granddaughters. Eugenie is currently eleventh in line to the throne. Her older sister, Princess Beatrice, is ninth in line, and Beatrice’s daughter, Sienna, is tenth, though neither is expected to reign.

She is the younger daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah, Duchess of York. She is the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and the niece of King Charles III. Eugenie is married to Jack Brooksbank and they have two sons, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank and Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, born in May 2023.

She has been involved in numerous charities and anti-slavery campaigns. Other patrons include the Coronet Theatre, Charity: water and the Tate Young Patrons, among others.
