Meet the incredibly athletic Korda family, from golfers to tennis pros: Nelly is the world’s #1 golfer, older sister Jessica is a six-time LPGA winner and younger brother Sebastian is ranked #21 on the ATP

Just like the Bryants and the Williams sisters, this Czech-American family are all professional athletes.

Petr Korda was a top professional tennis player in the 1980s and 1990s. He married another professional tennis player, Regina Rajchrtová, and they have three children. The couple represented their native Czechoslovakia before the dissolution of the Eastern Bloc and competed in high-profile tournaments around the world, including Grand Slams and the Olympics. After retiring from tennis, the couple became U.S. citizens and settled in Bradenton, Florida, according to their profile on the LPGA website.

Petr took up golf after retirement – a sport his daughters loved – and now their youngest daughter Nelly is a world-leading women’s professional golfer and their eldest daughter Jessica ranked No. 18 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Championship in 2023. Their son, Sebastian, is ranked No. 21 in the ATP tennis rankings at the time of writing. Talk about a sporty family!

So let’s find out more about each of them and the relationship they have with each other:

Jessica is an LPGA golfer. After welcoming her son in early 2024 and due to a wrist injury, the 31-year-old has not competed this season, but according to the LPGA, she has won six titles and 44 other top-10 finishes over her 13-year professional career.

Despite her competition with her sister Nelly (more on that in a moment), Jessica told People magazine that she and Nelly have each other’s backs: “Everyone always tries to pit us against each other and we always disappoint everyone when we say we’re each other’s biggest supporters.”

2. Nelly Korda, 25

In 2024, Nelly made history by becoming the third woman in LPGA Tour history to win five straight. Despite a busy schedule, the reigning Olympic gold medalist reportedly maintains a close relationship with her parents and siblings. On May 28, ahead of the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open, she told reporters that she enjoys “getting away and spending time” with her family.

The 25-year-old Korda has a close bond with her father, who was her caddie when she was young, according to People. The father-daughter duo teamed up for the PNC Championship golf tournament for the first time in December 2021. “After all these years of watching and supporting us kids from the sidelines in golf and tennis, it will be so much fun to be a part of a team competing together,” Korda said in a 2021 press release.

In April, the rising star told the Mutua Madrid Open: “What my sister (Nelly) is doing is incredible, she inspires me so much to try to improve every day. I hope I can get a little closer to her level. We only talk about her in the family chat group.”
