Stacey Solomon’s £5 IKEA buy transformed my holiday planning

Stacey Solomon’s £5 IKEA buy transformed my holiday planning

Everyone loves going on vacation, but few people appreciate the time it takes to pack their bags before they leave.

If you also have children you’re packing for, it can be a little tricky to figure out if each of them has everything they need.

Of course, this is something that organization queen Stacey Solomon has mastered to an art.

With five children, she has developed her own method to ensure nothing important is forgotten.

A while back, the host of BBC’s Sort Your Life Out shared a photo of a suitcase she was packing for herself and her sons Zach, Leighton and Rex.

She showed how she kept things simple by using drawer dividers inside her suitcase to keep everyone’s clothes separate.

With six compartments in each, she was able to separate the different clothes, which she also rolls up to make them easier to store and find when the suitcase is reopened.

I decided to buy something similar from IKEA, spending £5 on a set of six SKUBB bins. They come in different shapes, square and rectangular, so you can arrange them inside your suitcase as needed.

To make things even tidier I bought a £6 SKUBB storage case to store them all in, which means that as well as keeping everything tidy in the case it can be fully lifted out once on holiday and kept on its side to store everything away.

The kids each get one, so they’ll be thrilled that they don’t even have to unpack when they arrive.

The SKUBB range also has plenty of other options, including a four-pack of shoe boxes for £7, a box with compartments for £8 and a hanging handbag organiser for £5. Most of these are available in grey or white.

The packing hack isn’t the only thing I’ve copied from cleaning queen Stacey to help me organize my life.

Last month I shared how I made a memory box with items from my children, something Stacey did for her own children.

Earlier this year I shared the joy of adding a lazy susan to your kitchen after buying one for £7 from IKEA’s Variera range.

I also shared how I keep my oven spotless with a £1.99 product from Home Bargains and tested Asda’s At Home With Stacey Solomon range, a collection inspired by her idyllic country home, Pickle Cottage.
