ITV News viewers were left scratching their heads after a camera appeared to be dropped during a live broadcast.

On Monday night’s Evening News, the broadcaster’s international editor Emma Murphy was presenting from the United States.

She was reporting from Pennsylvania, where on Saturday former US President Donald Trump was captured on video falling to the ground after shots were fired at a rally in Butler Country.

When he rose while surrounded by security detail, blood could be seen dripping from Trump’s right ear onto his cheek as he was escorted off the stage, with the shooter later revealed to be 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

Continuing to cover the story a few days on, Murphy was on the ground speaking about the security measures that were in place during the rally.

However, as she was talking, the camera then suddenly dropped down and started shaking around, then appearing to struggle to stay focused on her.

Whatever was happening behind the lens, Murphy continued speaking and didn’t look too worried.

However, she did appear to be somewhat confused and briefly paused while her eyebrows were raised when the camera first started moving around.

After about 10 seconds it then went back into a normal position as she continued to share updates.

Those watching on at home couldn’t help commenting on what they saw, with one viewer jokingly asking if the cameraman was slightly tipsy.

‘What happened here?’ Greg Scott posted, sharing a clip of the moment on social media.

What the hell did the female reporter even just say on #ITVNews? I was so distracted by the camera man dropping the camera,’ user aree shared on X.

‘What was that?’ another added.

It’s not yet clear what causes the camera angle to go awry, but Emma hasn’t posted about the brief blunder yet.
