Celtics star Jaylen Brown was caught saying he didn’t think Bronny James was a ‘pro’

According to Boston Celtics superstar Jaylen Brown, Bronny James is not a professional NBA player. At least, that’s what he thought until he was caught saying it on camera and his statement went viral on social media.

With his time off after not making Team USA for the upcoming Paris Olympics, Brown decided to get in on the Summer League action and sat courtside to watch James and the Lakers take on his Celtics team.

Sitting next to his WNBA player girlfriend Kysre Gondrezicks and WNBA star Angel Reese, Brown was seen turning to the couple and saying “I don’t think Bronny is a pro” with a disgruntled look on his face.

We are not doing any exaggerated lip reading here either, what he said is clear.

The BricksCenter account shared the video of Brown making the statement at 12:01 a.m. ET Tuesday morning. After it was viewed millions upon millions of times, Brown cited the post a little over five hours later and attempted to walk back his statement about Bronny’s abilities.

To go from “I don’t think Bronny is a pro” to “he’s got all the tools around him and I can’t wait to see him” is a crazy move when you consider that Brown is a 27-year-old who was just named NBA Finals MVP.

Brown would have earned more respect by not changing his mind about Bronny instead of bowing to daddy LeBron, which is one of the only logical explanations here.

Many, if not most, NBA players, fans and media recognize that Bronny James is not an NBA caliber player at this point.

Brown said what almost everyone is already thinking, but he bowed to the crowd’s cheers in his social media mentions and quickly walked back his comment hours later.

The Boston star has no problem taking on Nike, but was hesitant to say he doesn’t think a young player from Summer League has what it takes to become an NBA pro. That’s crazy.
