Huma Abedin, fiancée, is still not divorced from Anthony Weiner

Huma Abedin and her new fiancé Alex Soros are ready to expand their family and welcome a baby, friends tell Page Six.

The former Hillary Clinton adviser, 47, and the son of billionaire Democratic donor George Soros, 38, announced their engagement last week.

But don’t expect the new power couple to tie the knot too soon, as Abedin is still finalizing her divorce from disgraced politician Anthony Weiner, sources confirm.

Soros proposed to her in May in New York with a dazzling diamond reportedly worth around $1 million, and the duo later celebrated their engagement in Italy.

“Huma and Alex are so in love,” a source told Page Six this week. “I know they can’t wait to start their life together and they really want kids.”

Abedin already has a son, Jordan, 12, with her ex-husband and has called him “the best thing she’s ever done.”

The brunette filed for divorce from Weiner in May 2017, nine months after he was embroiled in a sexting scandal that followed years of similar indiscretions.

In November 2021, Abedin revealed that the divorce was nearly finalized. “We are in the final stages of our divorce,” she told The Cut. “The lawyers are doing their lawyer jobs.”

Page Six learns that the delay is purely “administrative” and that the former couple is in the process of finalizing the administrative formalities.

Abedin and Weiner are living in the same downtown New York apartment building to raise their son together, and there are no custody or financial issues, a source familiar with the matter confirmed. Weiner, 59, said he was “thrilled” for his ex and Soros.

Abedin and Weiner married in July 2010 in the garden of Oheka Castle in Huntington, Long Island. The nuptials were officiated by former President Bill Clinton.

But Abedin and Soros’ wedding could well overshadow that celebration, Abedin’s friends say. It is expected to be attended by influential figures from the Democratic Party and around the world, including Bill and Hillary Clinton and Vogue editor Anna Wintour, a close friend of Abedin’s.

There’s a chance Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos and his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, will be in attendance, as Sanchez was spotted with Wintour and Abedin on a girls’ night out.

Last summer, Soros took control of his father George’s $25 billion empire and now runs the Open Society Foundations, which reportedly spends $1.5 billion a year on left-wing causes around the world. He endorsed President Joe Biden’s reelection earlier this month.

“Let’s stop fighting ourselves and confront the existential threat of Donald Trump! Biden-Harris 2024!” Soros tweeted.

He has led Democratic fundraisers alongside stars like “Hamilton” creator Lin Manuel Miranda and held meetings with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, as well as Brazil’s leftist President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Abedin and Soros were first linked earlier this year, when the duo posted an intimate photo from a Parisian restaurant on Valentine’s Day. They reportedly met at a mutual friend’s birthday party last year.

Announcing their engagement, the couple said: “We couldn’t be happier, more grateful or more in love.”
