Nikki Haley Delivers Message of Unity at Republican National Convention

Nikki Haley, a former South Carolina governor, former ambassador to the United Nations and former Republican presidential candidate, said Tuesday at the Republican National Convention that she supports Donald Trump as the party’s nominee.

“President Trump asked me to address this convention on behalf of unity. It was a gracious invitation and I gladly accepted. Let me start by making one thing clear: Donald Trump has my full support, period.”

“Our country is at a critical juncture,” Haley said. “If we have four more years of a Biden presidency or one more day of a Kamala Harris presidency, our country will be in a much worse place. For the sake of our nation, we must stand with Donald Trump.”

Nikki Haley: “I’m here because we have a country to save”

“You don’t have to agree with Trump 100 percent to vote for him. Believe me, I haven’t always agreed with President Trump. But we agree more often than we disagree,” Haley said.

Haley, who ran against Trump for the nomination before suspending her campaign in March, released her 97 primary delegates in July ahead of the convention.

“The nominating convention is a moment of Republican unity,” she said in a statement announcing the release. “Joe Biden is not qualified to serve a second term and Kamala Harris would be a disaster for America. We need a president who will hold our enemies accountable, secure our border, reduce our debt and get our economy back on track. I encourage my delegates to support Donald Trump next week in Milwaukee.”

On Tuesday, Haley called on Republicans to broaden their party, including by including people from diverse backgrounds.

“No president can solve all of our problems alone. We must do it together. America has an incredible capacity for self-correction. Right now, we have an opportunity to put aside our differences and focus on what unites us and strengthens our country,” she said.
