Office completely revolutionized the mockumentary sitcom genre. The series, adapted from the British series of the same name, debuted in 2005 and ran for nine seasons. However, despite a large fan base that continues to this day, the show has had its fair share of embarrassing moments. One that notably featured Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) and Pam Beesley (Jenna Fischer).

The duo were the epitome of couple goals on the show. However, some of their earlier interactions on the show might raise concerns. In one scene in particular, Jim was accused of crossing a major line. But was he the only one at fault?

The hit series ended in 2013, but several scenes and plotlines are still picked up by fans today. Some scenes are remembered for good reasons, others less so. One scene in particular in question takes place in the show’s second season. And fans on Reddit have their own theory that while Jim was criticized for crossing a line, Pam, on the other hand, was not a victim in the scene either.

The scene in question (via Reddit) takes place in Season 2, Episode 6, titled The flightwhen the flirtations between the two men take a rather physical turn. In the episode, Michael Scott (Steve Carell) and Dwight Schrute (Rain Wilson) plan to have a physical fight to resolve their disagreement over who is stronger. To do so, the entire cast heads to the local dojo to watch the slap fight sequence.

In the midst of all this, Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer) start pretend fighting, in which Jim lifts Pam off the ground. During this, her shirt rides up and exposes her stomach. At first, Pam laughs at him and asks Jim to put her down. But when she sees Meredith Palmer (Kate Flannery), her tone immediately changes and she asks Jim to put her down once again, but this time, very seriously. Based on this, one user commented under the Reddit post:

She only got angry when they both got caught. In my opinion, this puts them both in the wrong.

Jim quickly belittled her after this, even though he had ignored her earlier protests. Jim received a lot of criticism for his inappropriate actions at work. Not only that, but the show also made sure that his character suffered the consequences of his actions.

Towards the end of the show, Jim was seen composing and deleting an email expressing his regret for what had happened earlier. But even after that, Pam was not the victim in this case.

John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer never met in real life, as Krasinski was married to Emily Blunt and Fisher was married to Lee Kirk. However, they displayed genuine chemistry on-screen and an unwavering friendship off-screen. This is evident through the many interviews in which the actors can be seen gushing over each other. In 2016, the actress expanded on this point (via the Los Angeles Times ) and revealed:

There’s a real part of me that’s Pam and a real part of him that’s Jim. And those two parts of us were really in love with each other.

However, the actress was quick to clarify to make sure fans don’t get the wrong impression. She went on to say that while the two have a deep connection due to their time together on Officeit didn’t turn into a romantic relationship in real life.

In the series, their story started as friends but took a dramatic turn when Jim confessed his love for Pam in season 2, although she was engaged to someone else. But their story progressed when, in season 3, episode 25, titled The Work, Part 2he asks Pam out on a date, which leads to a romantic relationship in season 4.
