Surrey CCC sends sustainability message

Surrey County Cricket Club has partnered with sustainable energy supplier SSE Energy Solutions for the coming year.

Surrey Community Centre said the partnership would seek to engage directly with fans on sustainability initiatives, which is key to educating and inspiring people around shared net-zero goals for the future.

SSE Energy Solutions will have a significant presence throughout the iconic Kia Oval venue with branding present in the bowl, on digital screens and working with the club on sustainable initiatives around the venue.

There will also be exclusive opportunities to reward customers with unique experiences that cannot be purchased. The Kia Oval.

SSE Energy Solutions supplies renewable electricity to businesses from its UK wind farms and offers a growing range of energy products, solutions and advice to support business customers at any stage of their journey to net zero.

THE Kia Oval is a 27,500 capacity international cricket ground located in Kennington, in the borough of Lambeth, south London.

Nikki Flanders, Managing Director of SSE Energy Solutions said: “Our goal is to help customers achieve their net zero emissions goals. Surrey County Cricket Club and the Kia Oval “We are at the forefront of sustainability and, by leveraging the passion of sport, we can engage even more people on sustainability, which means a better world for us all.”

Likewise, Surrey Community Centre and the Kia Oval have committed to the ambitious goal of reaching net zero by 2030, which will require an 80% reduction in emissions from the Club and the venue.

The club has committed to replacing halogen bulbs with efficient LED lamps in the four 150ft floodlights around the pitch.

This is expected to reduce energy consumption by around 40% and reduce carbon emissions by around 168 tonnes compared to existing halogen bulbs.

Sustainability remains a key commitment for Kia And Surrey Community Centreboth setting themselves a series of ambitious goals.

It is extremely important to us to work with partners who will help us raise awareness and take action towards a net-zero future. Together, we can make a significant impact.

This partnership provides a great opportunity to engage with fans and make a difference together, making a meaningful difference in the global sustainability movement. Fans and customers will enjoy a range of exciting activities throughout the season to promote sustainability, as well as the chance to win exclusive prizes and experiences.

Starting with SSE Energy Solutions help Surrey celebrate the Sustainabili-T20 match against Hampshire next Thursday.

Fans can expect an immersive experience, including an interactive quiz and e-bike activation, designed to both entertain and educate about the importance of sustainability.
