Mamie Laverock shares message of hope as she recovers from balcony fall

Mamie Laverock says her “heart is full” after GoFundMe supporters contributed more than $28,000 toward her recovery from a medical emergency and subsequent five-story fall.

“Thank you very much,” read a message from the When the heart calls you The actor posted a GoFundMe update last week. “I don’t even know what to say. My heart is full. Thank you again. I have no words to describe my gratitude. I love you guys. Thank you.”

Laverock’s mother Nicole Rockmann and stepfather Rob Compton also shared a message after turning off new donations to the fundraiser.

“The fund is now closed,” they wrote. “Please know how much you have helped this family in the most difficult circumstances. Thank you for your consideration.”

GoFundMe Campaign

In two months, supporters have made 641 donations totaling $39,022 in Canadian dollars, or about $28,333 in U.S. dollars. The GoFundMe campaign’s initial goal was to raise $30,000 CAD. People reports.

Rockmann and Compton launched the campaign on May 14, saying that Laverock had suffered a “medical emergency” in Winnipeg three days earlier, and that Rockmann had arrived at her “in time to save her life.” Rockmann took her daughter to hospital in Winnipeg, and Laverock was later transferred to a Vancouver hospital.

Then, a few weeks later, devastating news arrived. “On May 26, Mamie, who had been in intensive care for two weeks, was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken to a balcony where she fell from the fifth floor,” her family wrote on GoFundMe. “She suffered life-threatening injuries, underwent multiple major surgeries, and is currently on life support.”

The family added that Laverock’s body was “broken” and she was in “excruciating pain.”

“We can only hold on to the miracles of every day and continue to thank everyone for their prayers and marvel at the miracles of his story,” they added.

And earlier this month, as Laverock celebrated a birthday at the hospital, Rockmann and Compton passed on their thanks to Johanna and Erin, perhaps referencing When the heart calls you stars Erin Krakow and Johannah Newmarch. (Laverock played Rosaleen Sullivan in nine episodes of the Hallmark Channel drama series; Newmarch plays Molly Sullivan and Krakow plays Elizabeth Thornton.)

“Grandma says, I love you. I love you, Johannah. Erin, I love you, thank you. When the heart calls you This is really Hope Valley.
