Sky: Newcastle ready to send opening bid for Milan defender Thiaw

Sky Sport Italia reports that Newcastle United are ready to send an opening bid for Milan defender Malick Thiaw.

Milan are expecting to receive an offer from Newcastle for German centre-back Thiaw, Sky Sport Italia reports.

The Magpies have reportedly been interested in the 22-year-old for several weeks. According to the latest information from Italian television channels, the Premier League side have recently contacted the Rossoneri to confirm their interest in the former Schalke 04 defender.

Thiaw is not on the market, but according to Tuttosport newspaper, Milan are open to listening to offers.

Newcastle have yet to submit a formal offer to the Rossoneri, but an official proposal is expected soon.

Milan have already identified a potential reinforcement in central defence in Strahinja Pavlovic from RB Salzburg, but the Rossoneri could sign the Serbian international regardless of Thiaw’s transfer to Newcastle.

Pavlovic has already agreed personal terms with Milan, and the Rossoneri are negotiating with his club, knowing they will need at least €20m to secure the defender’s signature.
