As teammate CeeDee Lamb continues to fight for a contract extension, Dallas Cowboys teammate Ezekiel Elliot has some advice for him.

“It’s really tough because you go through your first three or four years and you’re all on the same side, and this is the first time you’re kind of going against each other,” Elliott said, per ESPN’s Todd Archer. “So you have to have thick skin. There’s a few little extras that come with it, but at the end of the day, we all have the same goal.”

He added: “The team understands that CeeDee has to handle his business and CeeDee understands that he has the support of the team behind him. You just have to stay healthy, which he seems to be doing, and be ready to go when the deal is done.”

Lamb, who is entering his fifth year with the Cowboys, is set to make $17.99 million on his fifth-year option in 2024.

Elliot, who played for Dallas from 2016-22 and returns this season after a one-year stint with the New England Patriots, missed all of the Cowboys’ training camps and preseason games while sitting out the season. That holdout resulted in a six-year, $90 million contract that includes $50 million guaranteed.

Lamb, one of the league’s top receivers, hopes he can have the same success as Elliott when his tenure ends.

According to Spotrac, Lamb has a market value of $31.75 million per year, which would put him among the NFL’s highest-paid receivers like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Justin Jefferson and others.

That market value comes as no surprise considering Lamb’s colossal numbers last season. He had the league’s most receptions with 135, the second-most receiving yards with 1,749 and the third-most touchdowns with 12 on the year.

The Cowboys and Lamb are likely hoping his denial is resolved before the start of the regular season so the All-Pro receiver can continue his success.
