‘There are so many other ways to do this,’ people criticize woman who announced her pregnancy in ‘disgusting’ way

However, one woman recently took a different approach to sharing the wonderful news with her husband – and the “disgusting” announcement has traumatised social media users.

The woman, Mari, from the United States, decided to surprise her partner, Chan, during a visit to a restaurant as he patiently waited for his food to arrive.

But this totally oblivious guy didn’t know that the dish was going to contain a surprise: Mari’s pregnancy test, which she had discreetly placed inside the plastic cup.

According to Mari, she had initially planned to share the big news “the traditional way” – but she decided to “change things up.”

“Because he loves food and because he loves snacks, I was like, ‘Why not put him in his favorite snack?’” she explained on Instagram.

Before serving the dish to her husband, Mari quickly took her plastic test, dipped it in a sticky sauce supposed to be tamarind, and covered it with Tajin seasoning.

Already prepared with the epic surprise, the mom-to-be, who is currently 18 weeks along, then handed the special treat to Chan who couldn’t wait to tuck into it.

To avoid suspicion, Mari also told her man that the place had changed its Tamarindo sticks.

“They didn’t have those anymore, so now they have these – and they’re much better,” he could be heard saying in the now-viral video.

After being pushed to try the brand new stick, Chan took it out and bit into it – before realizing what it actually was.

Completely shocked, Chan asked his wife if she was pregnant, but he quickly called Mari “mean” once she admitted she hadn’t washed the container.

Proud of herself, Mari posted the clip on social media, where the reaction was brutal.

One horrified user said: “So you peed on it and then put it in a drink.”

Someone else agreed, writing: “This is really disgusting. There are so many other ways to do this.”

“No but why do you think putting something you urinated on in his drink and telling him to bite it was a cute idea,” read another comment under the video, which has been viewed over 17 million times.

“If I were your husband, it would be over,” said one mortified spectator, disgusted by the “disturbing” act.

“I’m sorry that man really loves you because that’s a rude way to tell him you’re having a baby,” another exclaimed uncomfortably after watching the video.

Luckily for Mari, it seems the announcement didn’t deter Chan, as the couple has been uploading content sharing their pregnancy journey.

After taking the internet by storm for all the wrong reasons, the mom-to-be claimed she had I cleaned the test after all, wiping it quickly.

“I didn’t expect him to take the tip off the pregnancy test – it was disgusting and then he put it back in.

“I thought, ‘I can’t let him taste it after this,’ because I need to kiss him later.”
