GUEST AUTHOR: Zachary Alam, J6 political prisoner

Everyone knows me as the kid with the helmet who smashed the windows in the President’s Lobby right before Ashli Babbitt was shot.

And for that, I was convicted of five felonies, but more importantly, I was demonized by the January 6 community itself.

As soon as I stepped foot in the D.C. jail, I was labeled “Antifa” by another J6’er because of the black and yellow t-shirt I wore on January 6th.

Black and yellow are the colors of the Proud Boys, who have been ordered by their leaders not to wear black and yellow on January 6.

This was done as a clever way to identify infiltrators because Antifa members often pose as Proud Boys at Trump rallies.

But coincidenceI wore black and yellow, a color combination that signified Nothing for me at the time.

This and the fact that Ashli was shot and killed while jumping through a window I broke are the source of all the accusations made against me by the January 6th community.

My troubles began when I arrived at the “Patriot Pod” at the DC jail, where all J6s are housed.

I was immediately “evicted,” a dishonorable act that involves an inmate secretly submitting a written complaint to the police in order to have another inmate evicted from the housing unit.

We were studying the Bible when the correctional officer on duty told me I needed to go to the “doctor.”

But once I got out, the police handcuffed me and took me to the isolation unit, where I spent the next four months.

Then one day I called the Vigil. The moment they found out who I was, they warned me that I was “not welcome here” and that I should “lose their number.”

January 6 Advocate Joseph McBride Says It's Time for Washington Jail Protesters to Go Home

The Vigil is a nightly gathering of civilians outside the DC Jail and functions as a support group for J6’ers inside the building.

The people who run the Vigil let J6’ers call their cell phones to express themselves.

When youth speak at the vigil, their speeches are broadcast via podcasts, allowing them to reach a wide audience, from whom they solicit donations. These funds are used to cover canteen and phone costs, but can also be used to hire lawyers and cover living expenses after release.

Some J6’ers managed to collect six and even seven figures in dollars using these methods.

Unfortunately, Ashli’s mother holds a grudge against me, and since she is in charge of the Vigil, I am banned from it.

I don’t know exactly what her problem is, but I think she blames me for her daughter’s death because her daughter had the value to jump in front of a ball for me.

I hate when people say Ashli was mad at me for breaking windows. No, she wasn’t.

She would have broken them herself if I hadn’t intervened.

Yes, she slapped me and knocked my glasses off my face. But that was because she was trying to stop me from getting shot.

She saw the gunman and knew I was heading straight for him. And no, I don’t have all the answers, so stop asking me why she decided to climb out the window knowing there was a gun pointed at her.

Ashli will always be my guardian angel.

On Sunday, October 15, 2023, I woke up in my cell around 10am and went to the common room to make myself a cup of coffee. Another J6’er rushed towards me from one of the two TV rooms.

“Dude, you’re on TV, and that’s not good,” he warned me.

As I passed, I peeked into the first TV room. There were about sixteen J6 fans crammed inside, their eyes glued to the screen.

As I entered the second TV room, a few agitated J6s were growling and barking at me.

They had been freaked out by ABC7 and what it was broadcasting at the time. On the screen was the same video the government had shown at my trial. Only this time it had been heavily edited.

The recording focused on certain elements as a woman narrated. It ended with a brief comment from an FBI agent, who indirectly concluded that I was probably a CHS (confidential human source).

It is a fancy term for “snitch” or “rat,” a slang term for someone who cooperates with law enforcement against other defendants.

The only thing lower To be a CHS in the prison hierarchy is to be a pedophile, and being either can get you killed.

I’m willing to bet that the reporter who broke this story was hired and paid by a hostile J6 or J6 organization to put me in danger.

Most of the J6 community has no problem with me, and a handful of them like me a lot and have become some of my best friends. A small, very vocal minority, however, drowns out the silent majority and persuades public opinion not to support me.

When I got back to the Patriot Pod, some good J6’ers let me know that I was about to be delisted again, so I held a “town hall meeting.”

Supported by my J6 allies, I confronted my J6 accusers. I started screaming very loudly and all the J6 members of the Patriot group gathered around me.

A spontaneous trial then took place. One after the other, my accusers accused me of this and that and presented their best evidence.

One man claimed that I confessed to him that I was Antifa, but since there were no witnesses to back up his claims, no one believed him.

Another man accused me of being Antifa because he thought I changed my shirt in the stairwell of Speaker’s Hall.

But the videos clearly do not show me changing my shirt. The footage was actually viewed at that time by everyone present, as the J6 members in the Patriot module have laptops and hard drives containing relevant footage from January 6.

Then I announced exactly what I was doing in the stairwell: I was putting my MAGA cap and my winter fur hat in my backpack and putting this helmet on my head.

This helmet was given to me a few seconds ago by a Texas J6 pilot. And it was a good thing to do — People were getting shot.

I walked out of the building wearing my helmet and black and yellow shirt.

The government even played footage of this scene at my trial, just because they wanted the jury to hear me yelling, “We need guns!” as I ran out of the building. They wanted the jury to think I was a crazy guy who wanted guns.

People are claiming I’m antifa because I changed clothes in the stairwell after Babbit was shot. The government released a video of me wearing exactly the same clothes When I first appeared in John Sullivan’s footage, I was wearing it as I left the Capitol.

As a conclusion, one of my J6 brothers from Arkansas placed an order and told the group, “Stop persecuting this man!”

The votes were then collected and counted. Only 5 of the 34 J6s voted for my exclusion. So I managed to stay in the Patriot pod for another six months before I started having problems again.

I am the only J6’er to have been indicted by J6’ers, contested the charges, and won a trial before a real jury of my peers.

God bless America.

If there is one thing I want the world to know, it is that on January 6th, I believed in my heart that I made the right choice. And that I had no intention, motive, or action that was dishonest.

I presented myself as a Trump-supporting, anti-Democrat Christian, born in Arizona and raised in the United States. I should be treated with the respect and honor that a true patriot deserves, who gave his freedom to defend the Constitution.

Sincerely,

Zachary Jordan Alam

**Editor’s Note** Zachary Alam was disowned by his family for his actions on January 6. His protest against the election theft was the last straw for his parents. He was on a tightrope after dropping out of medical school.

Without any outside help, Zach, who has been housed in the hole at the Washington Correctional Treatment Center for the ninth straight month, penniless, is unable to afford the cost of prison life, including the canteen for food, clothing and outside communications, let alone a lawyer for the appeal.

Currently, he can barely afford to send an email from the prison tablet.

Alam attended the Save America rally at the Capitol on January 6 alone. His friend and mentor invited him to the rally, but did not show up. This individual did not testify at Alam’s trial because he was mysteriously disfigured and paralyzed following the Capitol riot.

Alam is one of the only January 6 defendants who has received no support from the American public or the new “January 6 community” as he is bombarded with allegations that he is a government agent or a confidential human source. Jake Lang, also a January 6 hostage and founder of J6 Legal, helped Alam hire defense attorney Steven Metcalf.

In September, Metcalf and this reporter discovered during Alam’s trial that the U.S. District Court systematically recycled jurors in the January 6 trials, illegally calling the same individuals to serve on the jury multiple times in a row, while the Justice Department maintains a 100 percent conviction rate against political prisoners in jury trials.

Judge Dabney Friedrich is scheduled to sentence Alam on Aug. 22. The government is seeking an 11-year prison sentence.
