The allegations first surfaced when Young-White filed for full custody of Adeya on July 24, citing serious concerns for her safety.

Court documents obtained by Billboard Young-White claimed that “everyone has more power than I do over the upbringing of our daughter.” He said Adeya was “born in a home and not in a conventional setting like a hospital,” explaining why her name is not on the birth certificate.

Young-White’s allegations escalated into accusations that Kehlani was involved in what he called a “cult.”

He said: “While the respondent is on tour and our daughter is in the care of her fellow cult members, Adeya sleeps in the bed and is bathed by randomly selected adult members of the cult and is often alone in the room with some of these persons.”

He even claimed to have been “physically restrained and threatened” while trying to retrieve Adeya.

In response, Kehlani took to her Instagram Story on August 6 to directly address the allegations.

“What has been published in the media over the past 24 hours is incredibly hurtful, inaccurate, inappropriate and simply wrong,” they said.

“I categorically deny any allegations that I have placed my child in danger or left my child alone with anyone who was considered dangerous or unsafe. I also do not share the allegations against my former religious community that have been reported in the media.”

Kehlani then spoke about their commitment to Adeya’s well-being: “I have always taken great care to ensure that my child is protected and safe at all times. My child and my commitment to motherhood have always been my only driving force in this life and always will be.”

“This is a legal, private and family matter that will be handled accordingly, and I will now focus on my personal well-being and, more importantly, that of my child. Thank you for your support and respect for our privacy. I will not be making any further comments and will let the legal process take its course,” the “After Hours” singer concluded.

Young-White later issued her own statement, attempting to clarify the situation regarding how her statements were presented in the media.

He accused TMZ to distort his words, stating: “It is factually incorrect and I think it is disgusting that TMZ would exploit the image of a child in this way. Furthermore, I have not been informed of any court-ordered mediation at the time of writing, according to the account of TMZ. Personally, I would love to TMZ to justify to me, the father, how they could have invented this story.

He continued: “The TMZ article sensationalized aspects of what was said while simultaneously violating my privacy.”

“Furthermore, my filing was incomplete and had been mistakenly not authorized by my attorney. I am no longer represented by the aforementioned attorney. An amended filing will be filed soon, which will illustrate the full extent of my concerns.”

Young-White insisted he had no intention of vilifying Kehlani, saying, “I do not need to paint an unfair picture of my co-parent in order for my justified feelings to be respected by the court. This unfortunate trauma only increases the obstacles I face in ensuring the well-being of my child.”

“For now, I hope to eliminate the divergences made by The world. “I hope to see a retraction and an official apology.”
