A man has been charged with murder after a young woman was tragically found stabbed to death near Ipswich train station this week.

The city was rocked by a violent knife attack on Tuesday 6 August, as a murder investigation was launched following the incident on Burrell Road, near the railway station. Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 7.10pm that evening after receiving reports of the attack.

When officers arrived they found a woman in her twenties with horrific knife wounds. Despite the best efforts of emergency crews, including intensive care paramedics from Suffolk Accident Rescue Service, the 26-year-old victim died after being taken to hospital.

Chief Inspector Tam Burgess commented on Tuesday: “Emergency services, including a number of police resources, have been deployed to the scene and people in the area will continue to see an increased police presence throughout the evening and into the coming days.”

Suffolk Police have now provided an update on their ongoing investigation, revealing that a man has been charged with the murder of the dead woman, the Mirror reports.

Authorities have confirmed the arrest of a 27-year-old man from Ipswich yesterday morning, August 7, on suspicion of murder. He was taken into custody and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre. Logan Burnett, of All Saints Road, Ipswich, has been formally charged with murder and is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow, Friday, August 9.

An autopsy conducted this afternoon by the Interior Ministry determined that the cause of death was fatal stab wounds to the victim’s chest.
