Kolkata: BJP blames TMC goons sent by Mamata for vandalism at RG Kar Medical College

New Delhi: A mob vandalised a government hospital in Kolkata during a midnight protest by doctors following the recent rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Video of the incident went viral, showing stones being thrown at the hospital campus, leaving several police officers covered in blood.

After the violent mob vandalized the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital building in Kolkata, Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee shared a post on X and said, “The hooliganism and vandalism at RG Kar tonight has crossed all acceptable limits.”

The TMC leader further said that the doctors’ demands were right and justified and this was the minimum they should expect from the government.

“As a public representative, I have just spoken to him to urge him to ensure that every individual responsible for today’s violence is identified, held accountable and brought to justice within the next 24 hours, regardless of their political affiliation. The demands of the protesting doctors are just and justified. This is the least they should expect from the government. Their safety must be a priority,” the message read.

Reacting to the incident, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari said Mamata Banerjee had sent her TMC goons to the apolitical protest rally near RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Adhikari further accused CM Mamata of vandalism inside RG Kar Medical College and Hospital and said, “She thinks she is the most cunning person in the entire world and people will not be able to understand the cunning plan whereby her goons posing as protesters would mingle with the crowd and commit vandalism inside RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
