GMC Begins Delivery of Sierra EV Edition 1

GMC Begins Delivery of Sierra EV Edition 1

You may have seen a few Chevrolet Silverado EVs on the streets already, but its sibling has been noticeably absent. It’s been nearly two years since the GMC Sierra EV was announced, but buyers are only just starting to receive their orders. The most expensive Denali Edition 1 version of the Ultium-based pickup arrives first, with more variants expected next year.

The Edition 1 features two electric motors with a combined output of 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque. Less expensive models expected in 2025 include the AT4 and Elevation trims, which will have less power and a shorter range. GMC claims a range of 440 miles for the Edition 1 and a maximum charging speed of 350 kW. Towing tops out at a comfortable 10,000 pound-feet, though range is significantly affected anywhere near that number.

The Silverado’s more upscale cousin, the Sierra EV borrows some features from the GMC Hummer EV. It features four-wheel steering that enables the brand’s “CrabWalk” feature, and adaptive air suspension is standard. Like the Silverado, the truck has a Multi-Pro center liftgate and a large front trunk. GM’s Super Cruise is available.

The new Sierra EV isn’t cheap. The Edition 1 starts at just under $100,000, but that could be a safe bet considering the similarly priced Tesla Cybertruck lacks range and breaks down in the hands of new owners.
