Darkwood, NSW: New twist behind shocking death of Mark Myers, found dead in surfboard bag – as Nambucca Heads neighbours speak out after Lisa Marie Cummings charged with his murder

Neighbours of the man found dead in a surfboard bag say they are shocked that he was allegedly murdered by a woman who was renting a room in his home.

Lisa Marie Cummings, 35, had only moved in a month ago to share Mark Myers’ home at Nambucca Head in northern New South Wales, residents told Daily Mail Australia.

Her body was found 70km away in a surf bag in the driveway of a home in Darkwood, near Bellinger River National Park, on Thursday night.

Cummings was arrested over the alleged murder at their shared four-bedroom home on Friday and appeared in Coffs Harbour Local Court on Monday.

Residents on his street described the alleged victim as “a great neighbour” and “a good friend” who had lived in the house next door since he bought it in 2010.

They said what happened was “unbelievable.”

Cummings was allegedly in a relationship with Mr Myers, as well as paying him rent, with police saying they had a “domestic” relationship.

Lisa Marie Cummings had only moved into the house owned by Mark Myers a month before she murdered him and dumped his body in a surfboard bag 45 miles away.

The four-bedroom house on Loftus Street, Nambucca Heads, was bought by Mr Myers in 2010, and he rented out rooms to help support his lifestyle.

Detectives say Mr. Myers may have died elsewhere before his body was found in the Darkwood driveway.

Police established a crime scene, but the property was evacuated days later and no officers were seen at the home on Saturday.

Inspector Vince Nicholls said Mr Myers’ family were distraught and had been in contact with officers following the death.

He urged anyone with information to come forward to police, as well as anyone with dash cam footage of the area around the crime scenes.
