County offices at courthouse closed until further notice – Pagosa Daily Post News Events & Video for Pagosa Springs Colorado

This short message arrived yesterday morning from the Archuleta County Public Information Office:

All offices located in the Old Courthouse at 449 San Juan Street will be temporarily closed until further notice. These offices include the Clerk and Recorder, Treasurer, Assessor and Human Resources.

I understand that someone—perhaps someone disgruntled with the Department of Motor Vehicles—was heard on the sidewalk in front of the courthouse saying, “We’re going to come back and—”

…and something.

According to reports, another citizen overheard the comment and went inside to inform county officials. The decision was made to close the courthouse offices immediately, ahead of the Labor Day long weekend.

The county later posted additional information on its website.

According to Detective Boyd Neagle of the Pagosa Springs Police Department (PSPD), at approximately 9:54 a.m. on August 29, PSPD received a report of an unspecified threat to the Archuleta County building located at 449 San Juan St.

County officials were alerted to the call and decided to close the building for the day.

The incident is under investigation and at this time there is no verifiable threat to the building. If you have any information regarding this threat, please contact Neagle at (970) 264-4151 or the Archuleta County Combined Dispatch Center at (970) 731-2160.

“We’re being cautious,” Neagle said.
